Let There Be Light... But What About Sleep?!

WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR SLEEP, YOU'RE AT WAR...AND LIGHT IS YOUR ENEMY.

We are constantly bombarded by light from smart phones, 24 hr television, laptop computers and other devices.  This attack keeps you and your bedmate awake at night or on the road.  These present an unique problem for you as the more light at the wrong time, the worst your sleep quality.

Let's explore the reasons why light is a sleep enemy:

Your body is naturally alert (AWAKE)
in the presence of all light.

This alertness gets in the way of your sleep as certain hormones are triggered. These hormones impact how fast you fall asleep and how long you sleep.

A recent survey of people with the highest risk of insomnia reported that

90% of these individuals watched TV,

33% used their computers and

43% did chores before bedtime.

You may be at risk of sleeplessness by ignoring the impact of light or failing to take steps to control it.

These activities exposed them to excess amounts of artificial light at the worst possible time of the day.

Whether open or closed,

your eyes ALWAYS sense

the presence of light.
